Life after Hurricane Helene
Late September 2024, Hurricane Helene devastated widespread portions of Western North Carolina. The scene is too grave to accurately convey in words what is actually happening in these areas. Entire towns wiped off the map. Stories that are not only heart breaking and gut wrenching, but will haunt you for some time. The pictures and videos you see circulating don’t come close to showing the true impact of this disaster.
These people are strong and resilient warriors. They need our help. They need us to remember them. We all have a part to play in this long road to recovery. It’s time to be a light now more than ever.
What is D.R.E.A.M.S.?
D.R.E.A.M.S. stands for Disaster Relief Efforts and Management System. It was created to serve Western North Carolina as a centralized location to find up-to-date information to make connecting the dots between people and resources easier and more efficient.
The goal is to be a long term resource that evolves as the needs of the communities and people impacted evolves.
Our big DREAM is to see neighbors near and far sticking it through the rebuild process to help however they can.
